Paul Seltman

Paul Seltman joined Smith+Nephew in 2010 and currently serves as Senior Vice President, Global Public Policy & Government Affairs. Smith+Nephew is a portfolio medical technology company focused on the repair, regeneration, and replacement of soft and hard tissue.

Seltman has over three decades of experience in Washington. Prior to joining Smith+Nephew, he was Director, Public Policy and Government Relations, at Becton, Dickinson and Company in Washington, D.C. His private sector experience also includes serving as Counsel with the law firm of Drinker Biddle & Reath and Associate Vice President for Payment and Policy with the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed).

From 1993-2001, Seltman held a range of positions with Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill and in the Clinton Administration.  He served as a Special Assistant in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Legislation at the Department of Health and Human Services, Counsel for both the Senate and House Budget Committees, and Deputy Chief of Staff to former Congressman Major Owens (D-NY).

In between his stints in the public and private sectors, Seltman accepted a fellowship with the Robert Bosch Foundation in Germany, where he spent a year working with government and industry leaders on health care policy matters.  During that year, he achieved fluency in German.  Seltman received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and law degree from American University.
