Margi Coggins, CNM, MSN, MS

Margi Coggins is a certified nurse-midwife with over twenty-five years of experience in women’s health. She “caught” more than a thousand babies in both hospital and community settings. She was an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and helped the Cambridge Birth Center apply for Baby Friendly designation. She directed one of the largest midwifery practices in Massachusetts at Mount Auburn Hospital for almost a decade. She helped start families with alternative insemination and continued to see those moms for their annual exams for years afterwards. She taught medical, nursing and midwifery students in the clinic and at the bedside.

Margi left clinical practice in 2022 to “midwife the system” of obstetrics throughout the Commonwealth. She has been a member of the Massachusetts Mortality & Morbidity Review Committee since 2015 and serves as President to the Massachusetts Affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives. She also provides consultative services to medical product designers. She received her MSN from the University of Missouri, her BSN from Rockhurst University/Research College of Nursing, and her BA in Biology from Mount Holyoke College. She also earned an MS in Entomology from Michigan State University.  When she isn’t doing “work-work,” she does “farm-work” at her family’s small off-grid farm in Western Massachusetts where she keeps bees and chickens, makes wine and maple syrup, and picks about 2 tons of rocks each year.
