Irene Barquero is a seasoned leader in the medical industry with over 20 years of experience driving operational excellence and innovation. As Senior Director of Operations at Hologic in Marlborough, Massachusetts, she oversees strategic initiatives that enhance manufacturing efficiency and cost enhancements in the medical technology sector.
Throughout her tenure at Hologic, Irene has played a pivotal role in managing New Product Introduction, Process Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering across the company’s Costa Rica and Marlborough sites. Her expertise in scaling operations and optimizing manufacturing processes has contributed to the successful launch of numerous groundbreaking medical devices.
Originally from Costa Rica, Irene and her family migrated to the United States four years ago during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is passionate about fostering collaboration, advancing women in STEM, and driving operational excellence to improve women’s health worldwide.
