October 10 Human-Centered Design Processes & R&D Trends and Techniques: New Thinking and Best Practices Using a human-centered, design-based approach helps medtech organizations bring to life innovative patient experiences, devices, brands, and interactions. By placing people at the center of the design process we gain insights leading to offerings that satisfy latent human needs, behaviors, or desires. In healthcare, considering the patient’s lifestyle in conjunction with all of the touch points along their therapeutic journey, design thinking can lead to opportunities for innovation in products and services. The first half of this session explores how human-centered design processes lead to behavioral insights that can directly impact the form and interaction of the desired outcome. The second half of this seminar will examine a top priority for medtech companies: sustained and profitable innovation. Topics to be addressed include recent and emerging trends in MedTech R&D and innovation such as globalization of R&D, localization of products, open innovation, and platform-based product development.
